Review: Aveda Pure Abundance – Volume for Fine Hair

My hair has always been very fine, with not a wave in sight. This was okay in my younger years when the long, straight hair look was in style. Now my hair is short and without volume it looks dreadful. My daughter suggested Aveda’s Pure Abundance Hair Potion to me and I figured I might give it a try. We were having a “girls day our” and happened to pass a beauty salon during our walk. My daughter, being extremely gregarious, suggested we dash inside and perhaps I could see a demo of how the product worked. The hair stylist we spoke with was only too happy to show us. She sprinkled a tiny bit of the powder onto her hair roots in several places and then sort of tousled it. Wow! What a difference.

I went online and ordered it, along with their Pure Abundance Shampoo and Pure Abundance Volumizing Clay Conditioner. I was surprised at how small the bottle of Pure Abundance was, but it lasted me a long time – months and months! I don’t use it every day because I try not to wash my hair more than 3 times a week – sometimes only twice. The first day my hair is washed, it looks squeaky clean but with no volume. That’s when I turn to Pure Abundance. With just a small amount of Pure Abundance Hair Potion into the hair, which is then tousled, the volume is there — in fact, I think it’s more than the +17% volume they promise. After the tousling, you can brush it or not – whatever you like for your look. I have not used it on wet or damp hair, but if you do, you’ll want to put the powder in your hand and rub it so it sort of gels, then rub your hands through your hair, comb, dry, and style.

The Shampoo and Conditioner are also great — although my practice is not to constantly use the same shampoo and conditioner, but to change off every week or so. So when I do change off, one of my favorites is Aveda’s Rosemary Mint Shampoo — what a delightfully clean smell for my hair!
